Hi Salt and Tumeric,

Welcome to my blog. Thanks to Rita and Pak Idrus, I have received a lot of visits.

I have read your comments on Rita's blog. I lived most of my life down there in Orange County, CA, mostly in Irvine, so mention of your name usually causes me think of those days and places such as your own Orange, that had been my home for around 30 years.

The USA bought Alsaka from Russia for one cent per acre, and the guy who made the deal was soundly criticized for wasting US money. Guess he got the last laugh. It's mindboggling to think what the current situtaion would be if Russia still owned the territory.

Matter of fact the Russians even had a foothold in California: Fort Ross is a relic of those days.

I did read tht you used to live in OC. We'v only been here for abt 2 years. All I can say is tht its getting more and more expensive. Even with the so-called 'dropping' of house value, most ppl still cant afford it. sigh..

I dont know where Fort Ross is but thank you for tht info. It would be interesting to see the place. ;)

Hello, Salt & Tumeric,

Is the old downtown area of the city of Orange still there, or has it been re-developped?

Property values in Orange County have always been crazy :). When Irvine was being built, it wasn't uncommon for houses to change ownership a number of times before they were completed, as the prices increased weekly.
