San Diego, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Huatulco, Punta Arenas
The San Diego, Califrornia, skyline from the top deck of the ship just before sailing off. In the center of the photo, the old Spanish style Santa Fe railway station with its twin towers has now been dwarfed by all those new highrises.
On the other side of the ship there was a maritime museum with these life size reproductions of old sailing ships. Each of our lifeboats could carry more people than the bigger of the ships. Must have taken guts to sail the oceans in those.
We were saluted with a cannon volley as we sailed out of the harbor.
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
On the second night out at sea, I was about to complain that my towels were missing from the bathroom when I realized they had been folded into this elephant by the room steward
and left on the bed along with chocolates and some beach towels for our first port of call the next morning, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Hi Louis,
Gracias! Waiting to read more about the adventures of the rich and famous. I was in Mexico years back but I went on the "Conquistador" journey and saw most of the country. Love the blue skies and seas in your photos.
Your Spanish is flawless, Nazli.
I'd like to hear your impressions of Mexico. You would have seen the more genuine Mexico on your Conquistador itinerary. These seaside resorts of the "Mexican Riviera", pleasant though they are, are mostly generic tourist seaside resorts with a veneer of local color.
Fortunately for years my travels in Mexico were in the interior and the Yucatan and that gave me great appreciation of the real Mexican culture.
Hi, Louis
You might like to know that Janice and I dined at a night spot associated with the Iguana filming.
Seems you had a grand ole'time!
Ric
