888

Knowing that for the Chinese the sequence of "888" is very auspicious, and being the 8th name on a tagging list requesting me to publish Picture 8, Folder 8, on my harddrive, how could I pass up the opportunity...so here goes...Who knows, later I may just go out and buy a Lottery ticket.

Picture #8 is this photo taken in the 1960's approaching the island Janitzio in Lake Pátzcuaro in Mexico.

I am also publishing another photo in that series to put the first picture in context. The fishermen who fish the lake are known for their unique butterfly-shaped nets.

Such amazing photos, Louis! I am glad you chose to post the second one. I have never heard of Lake Pátzcuaro until today. Such picturesque island homes, and what a unique fishing method! Too bad most of the fishing community now rely on sonars and deep-sea trawlers now. The butterfly net is definitely more sustainable. Your wife should have the photos enlarged and framed and displayed in the living room!

Hi CO'78,

I wonder if they still use those nets.

You have now made it more expensive for me to borrow my spouse's photos :)

hello louis,

The number 8 for chinese is related to geting richer and richer. My former boss used to drive a car (a very expensive car ..) with a registration number BBB 8888 ...and i was told he spend few hundred thousands ringgit just for the lucky number ...

Hi Rizal,

Wouldn't it be something to have enough money to spend that much on just the registration number?

Glad you stopped by.
